Athlone senior footballers are on the look out for a new manager.

This comes following the news that Emmett McDonnell stepped down from the position after just one year in charge.

McDonnell guided the south Westmeath outfit to the SFC quarterfinals, but they disappointed against their great rivals and neighbours Garrycastle.

The former Offaly manager spent less than two years in charge of the Faithful County, but is sure to be in demand over the coming months.
