Under 20

A young Garrycastle team exited the under 20 championship away to Caulry in sunny Mount Temple on Sunday morning last. After the throw in Brian Ruane came in at the end of a move to score a neat point. However Caulry got on top scoring six points in the next ten minutes. A Jason Nugent  point brought the score to 0-6 to 0-2 after 17 minutes. Then a swift garrycastle move opened up the Caulry defence and end with a Joe Carmody goal. Two more Caulry points followed when a Joe Carmody pass found Jason Nugent  who netted. The halftime  score was 2-2 to 0-8. The Garrycastle supporters were getting hopeful of victory but this was shattered in the third quarter which Caulry dominated adding six points before a long ball in deceived the goalie leaving the score 1-14 to 2-2.  In the latter stages  Garrycastle launched attacks and were going for goals when points were on. Two more Caulry points completed the scoring leaving the final score 1-16 to 2-2. The Garrycastle team only contained one twenty year old. The players showed that they have loads of ability and looked like a team who should be very competitive in this competition next year.
