The Shan will be playing senior football next year!!!

Well done to the Shandonagh mens senior football team on winning the 2018 intermediate football championship last Saturday. A fitting tribute on this our 50th anniversary that all the effort by many of our club members both past and present has been justly rewarded by this fine team.

A wet and drizzly day did not dampen the drive and determination of these boys who are an inspiration to all our underage.

Despite an early red card due to an ill-timed tackle handed out to our big man in the middle, the team remained very composed and honed in on their task as they refused to let Milltownpass get into the game. Great scores and a very evident hard work ethic by all players pushed on with a final score of Shandonagh 1-9, Milltownpass 0-6.

The strength of the Shan community was very evident when a huge crowd welcomed the boys back to the clubhouse later that evening where our under 12 boys and under 12 girls were also acknowledged for their mighty efforts last weekend.

Onwards and upwards for The Shan!

Our annual dinner dance on November 17th promises to be a great night so keep eye here and on social media for info on tickets.

 

U12 Boys

The U12 boys put up a valiant effort on Monday night last against Rochfortbridge in the Garrycastle tournament cup final. Unfortunately Shandonagh lost by a a goal and a point but a great run of 5 wins up to that including the league final win meant the team ended the season in good shape itching to kick on early in 2019. The final was a great game where they played very well and fought until the bitter end, these boys are definitely cut from the 'Battling Shan' cloth.

A chairde the next Shandonagh Scor meeting is 24th October at 7pm at clubhouse. All  participants please attend to register. Adult set dancing classes will commence on Wednesday 7th November 8pm - 9pm at clubhouse, childrens to commence at a later date.
