Intermediate Football Championship

Ballinagore 0-08  Ballymore 1-10

We ended our championship group campaign with a defeat to Ballymore on Sunday afternoon in Ballynacargy. We started this game strongly and led by 0-04 to 0-00 after fifteen minutes of action, however we let our opponents back into the game gradually and they ground out the win in the end. Team: Cathal Daly, Finian Heeney, Enda Claffey, Robbie Keegan, Kieran Deegan, Marty Linnan, Paddy Doody, Eoin Deegan, Brendan Heeney, Paddy Ennis, Cormac Deegan, David Keegan, Enda Kenny, Darren Rigney, Brandon Carey.

U17 Football Championship

Lilliput Gaels 2-06  St. Lomans 6-17

Our U17's made their exit on Sunday morning at the quarter final stage when we lost to a very strong St. Loman's side in Ballinagore. The visitors had strength in depth all over the field and were full value for their win, but our lads played with great heart and spirit throughout and never threw in the towel. We started very competitively, taking the game to our opponents at every opportunity and were only two points in arrears midway through the opening half. However Loman's gradually took control and picked off a number of fine scores to lead by 3-10 to 0-02 at half time. While Lomans outscored us again in the second half, we continued to be competitive and scored 2-04 ourselves with Morgan Gavigan scoring two fine individual goals. Well done to the team on a battling performance against very strong opposition and we wish Lomans the best of luck in the semi-final. Team: Lorcan Kiernan, Mark Killian, Conal Fagan, Cian Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Morgan Gavigan, Eoin Glennon, Zach Wright, Jack Gallagher, Conor Murphy, Peter Reynolds, Darragh Seery, Barry Bolger. Subs used: Luke Seery, Cody Finnane.

U14 Football Championship

Hard luck to our gallant U14's who lost out to a strong Moate All Whites side on Saturday afternoon in the Division 1 semi-final. We were only two points in arrears at the end of the first half but Moate's strength in depth came to the fore in the second half and they proved too strong for us in the end. That said, our U14's certainly owe us nothing this year - Division 2 league champions, a brilliant run in Feile which saw them go on a great run in the National Feile finals losing out to the eventual champions in the quarter final and finally a brilliant run in the Division 1 championship which saw them reach today's semi final. Well done to all the lads and their mentors on what has been a very successful season! Panel: Sean Jackson, Oisin Kiernan, Killian Jackson, Dylan Franzoni, Max Ripley, David Maloney, Peter Murphy, Shane Doran, Jack Gannon, Cathal Elliffe, Conor O'Malley, Shane Corcoran, Jack Mulligan, Philip Reynolds, Niall Claffey, Eoin Robinson, Adam Cassidy, Sean Macken.

U16 Football - Shandonagh Good to Talk Sevens

Our U16 footballers had an action packed day on Saturday when we took part in the Shandonagh Good to Talk seven-a-side tournament, held in memory of well known former Shandonagh and Westmeath footballer, Poggy Lynn. We were very slow in our opening game and we lost to Moate All Whites (we'll put it down to the early start!). However our lads showed great form in the next games against Millmore Gaels and Mullingar Shamrocks where we recorded wins to qualify out of our group for the cup semi-final. We played the tournament hosts in this game and after another fine game, it was Shandonagh who qualified for the final, a final they went on to win. The lads played great throughout and enjoyed the day. This was a brilliantly run tournament - everyone was well fed and looked after, games ran on time with official referees and, perhaps most importantly, the Good to Talk group were present and gave a great talk on mental health and the importance to reach out. Well done to all in Shandonagh GAA, a fitting tribute that Poggy would be proud of!

U12 Football - Garrycastle Tournament

Athlone 7-11 Lilliput Gael’s. 2-11

Team: Dylan Birch, Eoin Carey, Rory Quinn, Shane Maloney, Conor Maloney , Dylan Corrigan, Sean Bolger, Philip Reynolds, Eoin Robinson, Jack Maloney, Adam Cassidy, Patrick Maloney, Aaron Jackson, Christian Dowling, Morgan Redmond.
