Intermediate Championship

Crookedwood 2-14 Cullion 0-17. We finished the league stage of the championship with a hard-fought win over a very good Cullion side, thus ensuring our 100% record in the group. Scores were hard to come by early on for both sides, but after a Barry O Mara free after seven minutes opened the scoring, we never fell behind in the game. Barry added a good goal after ten minutes to give us a cushion that we maintained for the first half. As expected, Cullion came out strong in the second half and got the deficit down to the minimum, before Brian McLoughlin struck a good goal to give us a nice cushion again. Both sides traded points for the remainder of the game and during injury time Cullion laid siege to our goals in the hope of registering an equalising goal. But our defence held strong to run out three-point winners and ensure top spot in the group. As a result, we believe we are playing our underage partners Ringtown in the semi-final, possibly on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd of September.
