Crookedwood GAA Notes

June 11, 2018

Feile Champions

St.Vincents won the shield in their division on Sunday last after a few great performances over the weekend. Well done to all involved

Junior League

Crookedwood 3-15 Delvin 1-7.  Our Junior squad continued winning ways with a convincing victory over Delvin during the week. As in previous games we only held a slender lead at half-time, but the boys showed what they are capable of in the second half and ran out worthy and deserving winners. Team; Adam Mitchell, Cian Yourell, Mossy Brennan, Ger McGovern, Antoin Savage (0-1), Noel Bardon, Seamus Savage, Conor Savage (0-4), Brendan McCarthy (0-5), Richie Crowley (1-0), Chris Gilbert (1-2), JJ Brennan, Ciaran McGovern (0-1). Subs used; Simon McGovern for JJ Brennan, Ger Brennan (1-2) for Chris Gilbert, Kevin Orme for Brendan McCarthy.

Senior League

Brownstown 2-20 Crookedwood 1-13. We made the trip up to Archerstown on Thursday evening for the latest round of Division 1, but it proved fruitless as the home team had eight points on the board before we registered our first after some wayward shooting. They held a commanding lead up until midway through the second half when we reduced the deficit to four points.  But Brownstown pushed on and finished the game strong to run out deserving winners. Team; Alan O Mara, Damien Grifferty, Kevin Orme, Enda Murray, Mossy Brennan Eddie Nally, Noel Kiernan, Seamus Savage (0-1), Shane McGovern (0-2), Barry O Mara (0-6), Ger Brennan, Noel Yourell (0-1), Conor Savage, Brian McLoughlin (1-2), Chris Gilbert (0-1). Subs used; Ger McGovern for E.Murray, Antoin Savage for M.Brennan, Ciaran McGovern for Chris Gilbert.

Westmeath GAA

Hard luck to the Westmeath senior hurling panel and managemet on their defeat to Carlow, however we can all look forward to the Joe McDonagh final on July 1st in Croke Park. We were represented by Shane McGovern in the goals. The footballers season came to an early end as they were defeated by Armagh for the second year in a row. Crookedwood hurler Ronan Wallace was part of the panel and made an appearance in both championship games.
