Feile Weekend Report
Na Piarsaigh were playing in Division 3 of the National Feile na nGael last weekend and played some very good teams and a high standard of hurling. We hosted Emeralds GAA from Kilkenny and faced a very strong group of Watergrasshill from Cork, Raharney and Emeralds.
On Friday in Joristown we started our campaign at 5pm with a lively game against Watergrasshill with the Cork team winning 2-7 to 1-4. Next up was a game vs Raharney and the Na Piarsaigh boys put in a great performance to emerge winners 1-6 to 0-6 in the local derby. On Saturday morning in Collinstown we played our visiting club, Emeralds in our final group game. Na Piarsaigh flew out of the blocks and raced into a 1-1 to 0-1 lead in the first ten minutes however Emeralds grew into the game and produced some lovely play to overcome the home side on a scoreline of 3-5 to 1-3. Na Piarsaigh were into a Shield Quarter final to be played in Killimor, Co Galway in the afternoon!
Following a 90 minute drive to Killimor we lined up to face Gort from Galway at 2:30pm. The Na Piarsaigh team tore into their Galway opponents to produce their best performance of the weekend producing great hurling from every player, and crucially from start to finish to win on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-5. We were now through to a semi final in Claremorris on Sunday morning.
We had an early 2 hour drive on Sunday morning to Claremorris for a 10:45am throw-in against Carnmore from Galway. Roared on by a great travelling support and playing against the significant hill, the Na Piarsaigh boys found it hard to raise their game to the same level as the previous day and went into the half time break 1-3 to 0-2 points down. However on the resumption every player lifted their game and dragged us back into the game. Another goal for Carnmore left us trailing 2-4 to 0-5 points but some heroic work all around the pitch tagged back a few scores and then we had a few chances to get an equalising goal until we were awarded a 21m free which was hammered to the back of the net with the last puck, to bring the game to extra time.
A quick turn around ensued and the Na Piarsaigh boys were now playing down hill again but seemed to be unable to find the intensity that they had shown throughout the second half. Carnmore scored two sloppy goals and despite us battling to the final whistle we were unable to reel in the deficit. Great credit to the Na Piarsaigh players for their efforts over the whole weekend.
We had a great weekend's hurling on the field, playing some excellent hurling and an enjoyable weekend off the field mixing with our visiting players from Emeralds and their families.
To top off the weekend Emeralds won the Division 3 Cup on Sunday in the Connacht GAA Centre.

Thanks
Na Piarsaigh would like to thank anyone who contributed in any way to the weekend.
Those who made sandwiches, served drinks, brought players to games. Thanks to the host families for their generosity in taking the players from Kilkenny. Thanks to the team mentors: Joey, Neil, Mark, Anthony and Tom for giving up their time and to all the supporters who came to the games. We look forward to your support later in the year.
Under 10 Hurling
Well done to Turin Under 10 hurlers who had an excellent win over Clonkill last week away in Clonkill. This is a great bunch of skillful young hurlers. Keep up the practice at home and make the effort to get to trainings! All the hard work is paying off.
Under 12 Hurling
Na Piarsaigh Under 12 hurlers had a big win over Castlepollard in the league last week in Collinstown. Well done to the players and mentors. All players need to attend training and keep up the practice at home.
Adult Hurling
Turin adult hurlers had two games last week. We beat Cullion on Tuesday in McCabe Park in the Division 3A in a sloppy and lacklustre performance despite the end scoreline: 3-21 to 2-9. This result qualifies us for a league final. Then on Thursday, again in Turin our Junior hurlers defeated Cullion in the Division 3B league on a scoreline of 2-15 to 2-11. This was a much better performance from our junior squad with some great team scores and a much higher work rate around the whole park.
The adult hurlers continue their preparations for the first game of the upcoming Intermediate Championship which is scheduled for June 19th/20th. All players must attend training.
Under 6 and Under 8 Hurling
Following our break due to Feile and the thundery weather underage training returns next Friday in Turin. We may also train on Wednesday with St Munna's Camogie. A text will be sent out. We hope to see all players as we will be organising out first U6 game of the year soon.
