Minor Div 3
Moate All Whites 3-16
Milltownpass 3-16
On Wednesday evening last we played our last game in Division 3 of the league away to Milltownpass. If ever there was a game in which two Moate teams showed up well this was it.
With a half time scoreline of Milltownpass 0-12 Moate all White 0-06, Moate turned a six point deficit into a seven point lead within fifteen minutes of the restart. Goals from Callum Jones and two from Reece Jones and points from Conor Bracken (2), Reece Jones, Cathal O Brien and Garbhan Cunningham took us into control. Milltownpass to their credit did not give up and we went into injury time one point down. A fine point from Conor Bracken just before the final whistle drew the game.
This team never gave up and as proved before, will stay going to the final whistle, a trait that we can only hope will stay with them.
Team and scorers. O Higgins, O Johnston, T Bradley, C Digan, D Grenham, N Hamm, F Cunningham (1pt), Cathal O Brien (1 pt), C Jones (1-01), P Heffernan(3pt), G Cunningham (2pt), J Simpson, C Bracken (6pt), J Moran, R Jones ( 2-01), L Gavin, D Nulty.
U14 Div 1 League
Moate All Whites 4-10
Coralstown/Kinnegad 4-8
Our U14's welcomed Coralstown/Kinnegad to Hogan Park on Sunday evening last the 20th of May. Two evenly matched teams served up an entertaining hour of football on a wet evening in Moate.
Moate started brightly getting the first point, however Coralstown/Kinnegad soon got on the scoreboard with the opening goal of the game. It was nip and tuck for most of the first half but a Moate penalty gave them a half time lead.
The second half was similar to the first with each side matching the other, score for score.
A second Moate penalty saw the All Whites take a one point lead into the final minutes of this match and a late free gave Moate a two point winning margin as the final whistle sounded. Compliments to both teams and also the referee who did a fine job.
U12s
Moate All Whites 3-8
Tubberclair 2-7
Our U12s played Tubberclair on Monday last. A very close game until the final minutes when Moate pulled away with a goal. A great team effort from all players.
The U12 panel have been invited to take part in the Mattie Reddington Memorial Cup in Headfort, Galway on Saturday 2nd June, a great opportunity to display their skills - more details later.
