There were four games down for decision throughout the course of the day.
The All-Ireland SFC qualifiers got underway with three matches to be played around the country.
The qualifiers are the last chance saloon for counties and this is real championship football from here on in.
Of course, the main attraction of the day was the meeting of Mayo and Galway at MacHale Park at 7pm.
These fierce rivals went head to head once again and Galway were keen to put an end to Mayo's dominance in the province.
