It is with immense sadness and regret that we record the tragic death of Paul Mulcahy, Dun Daingean, Ballyknock Lower, Dungarvan which sad event occurred recently. Paul left his family home early on Sunday morning, June 30th, to participate in what was to be just another day's rallying. During stage 4 of the Ravens Rock Rally following an accident, Paul was rushed to Waterford Regional Hospital. The emergency services worked on Paul but despite
their tireless efforts he passed away with his wife Fiona at his side. Pr. Michael Enright, PE; Fr. Michael Collender, OSA and the Chaplain at Waterford Regional Hospital were there for Paul and the Mulcahy and Power families in their time of need.
Paul was born on the 31st December, 1975, son of Tony and Brid and one of four siblings. Paul married Fiona and had an eight week old son 'Paul Junior'; Paul's first priority in life was his family. He met Fiona over 15 years ago. After a seven year engagement, Paul and Fiona married on the 29th July, 2011.
Paul was so proud of their latest achievement, the birth of their son Paul.
Paul had many plans for their future together and said "his son would drive the best and fastest that money could buy".
Paul went to Primary School in the Mercy Convent,Dungarvan and attended the Christian Brothers for his secondary education. He then went on to complete his apprenticeship in Panel Beating in FAS and in 1994, was awarded apprentice of the year. It was during this time that he began working for Declan Mulhearne Mahonbridge as a panel-beater and worked well alongside Paddy and Harry Quinn.
He followed in his father's footsteps with his love of motorsport. His father bought Paul his first kart. Later, he was very successful at hot rodding,
and was a member of Waterford Raceway. Sometime later, Paul and his father Tony worked as a team in building the 'Orange Starlet' to perfection. Paul was well known for his sideways actions. He won many awards and titles over the years. In 2010, Paul and Karl Baumann won the Carrick-on-Suir Hallowe'en Historic Rally outright as well as the modified section.

Paul was a member of the Imokilly Motor Club. He also trained as a coach for Motorsport Ireland. Paul was a recent addition to the Superkart scene where he raced a 250DI in the different circuits of Northern Ireland. When he was not involved in Motorsport of some description, his pastime was GAA. He enjoyed playing for his local club Kilgobinet He also maintained that the GM kept him fit for Motorsport.

Paul's remains reposed at his home from Monday, July 1st where thousands of friends, relatives and neighbours paid their last respects. He will be greatly missed and deeply mourned by his loving wife Fiona, son, Paul Junior; parents. Tony and Brid, brother Brian, sisters, Oria and Sinead, parents in law, Matty and Ann Power; sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a huge circle of family and friends.
