Waterford 2-12

Sligo 0-16

Darragh Corcoran scored two late points to give Waterford their first win in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League at Sligo's expense in Markievicz Park.

The St Saviour's full forward twice split the posts from play in injury-time as Benji Whelan's men put a big dent in the home side's promotion bid. With Liam Gaughan and Barry Gorman in fine scoring form, Sligo led by 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time and extended their advantage after the restart before Sean O'Donovan's 49th minute goal reduced the deficit to the minimum, 1-7 to 0-11.

The Yeats County had John F Carr sent off on a second yellow card before Dylan Guiry grabbed the visitors' second goal to propel them into a 2-9 to 0-14 lead with seven minutes remaining.

Gaughan levelled with his fourth free, but Corcoran had the final say.
