Waterford manager Liam Cahill believes that defender Tadhg de Burca will be back by the summer.

The 2015 All Star and Young Hurler of the Year is currently sidelined with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Players are usually out of action for up to 12 months with this type of injury and Cahill revealed to the Waterford News & Star that the talented defender is making progress, but added that he still has a long way to go.

“Tadhg is still quite a bit away but working really hard in the background to come back,” stated Cahill.

“Please God come the summer Tadhg will be ready to rock. It mightn’t be for the first round of the championship. I’d be hoping that if we can get a run in the championship, he’ll definitely be in our plans.”
