Redevelopment work on Walsh Park is set to be put on hold due to a delay in approved state funding.

Initially, the work was expected to start on the grounds following Waterford’s two Munster SHC games.

However, county board delegates were informed at a recent meeting that the start date for the work would be delayed.

The Waterford News & Star reports that the funding from the GAA, Munster and Central Council is ready to go, but state funding that has been approved will not be released just yet.

The Waterford County Board are following the proper procedures to ensure that the funding is released, but there will be no further update until the September meeting of the county board.
