Cork's Patrick Horgan celebrates his goal against Limerick

Patrick Horgan and his Cork team-mates are bracing themselves for a backlash from Waterford at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday evening.

The Deise have nothing but pride to play for in the Munster SHC round 4 fixture and the GAA/GPA Player of the Month for May reckons that makes them a difficult proposition for the Rebel County.

“It seems to be the pattern of this Munster Championship, a team takes a beating and then comes out the following week and plays for their lives,” he told the Irish Independent.

“We did it ourselves against Limerick, having been beaten by seven points by Tipperary.

“So we are ready for Waterford to come out and play for their pride after last weekend – and a team playing for their pride can be a very dangerous thing.”
