Team news: 46-year-old set to make Waterford debut

Darren Mulhearne will make his debut for Waterford against Clare in the first round of the 2019 Munster SFC

46-year-old goalkeeper Darren Mulhearne will make his first senior inter-county appearance for Waterford tomorrow when they take on Clare in the opening round of the Munster football championship.

Mulhearne was part of the Deise panel when he was 17 years old but did not feature and now, 29 years later, he is set to start between the posts at Cusack Park tomorrow evening.

Manager Benji Whelan has named Shane Aherne and Tommy Prendergast to start at centre-field against the Banner men while The Nire’s Dylan Guiry is stationed on ‘the 40’

Throw-in in Ennis is at 7pm.
