Waterford’s Austin Gleeson has stressed that they will not be reading too much into their win over Clare as the sides face each other in the opening round of the Munster SHC.

Gleeson returned to the team and produced an excellent display scoring five points from play as Waterford ran out comfortable winners over the Banner in the NHL quarterfinal.

The game was played in Walsh Park, the same venue as the Munster clash between the two and Gleeson admitted to the Waterford News & Star that even though it was great to get the win, it will count for little in the summer.

“It’s great for us to get back to back wins against quality opposition, but I’ve no doubt Clare will come back here in the Munster championship in May determined to avenge the defeat, so we won’t be getting carried away,” said Gleeson.

“We have Galway next weekend in the semi-finals and all our focus will now be on that.”
