Waterford forward Pauric Mahony admits that he never experienced anything like the wind they faced in the first half of their HL1A clash against Galway at Walsh Park last Sunday.

Trailing by ten points at the break, Waterford had it all to do in the second half, but they managed to turn the game around and record a moral boosting win over the Tribesmen.

But, according to Mahony, the conditions they played in were some of the worst that he has ever faced as a gale force wind made it almost impossible to hurl.

“Conditions were very tough. It was just about keeping the work rate high, staying on the move and keeping the body warm,” Mahony told the Waterford News & Star.

“Last week, we had the rain. This week we had sleet, snow, hailstones, you name it! It’s been a tough week but great to get a win in Walsh Park.”
