Waterford forward Tommy Ryan admits that he is doing his best to make the most of the opportunity handed to him in the early rounds of the NHL campaign.

Ryan has started in all four competitive matches that Waterford have played so far this year, including the opening two rounds of the 1B campaign.

Despite, having a decent run in the Munster SHC last year and being ten years in or around the squad, Ryan stressed to the Waterford News & Star that no one is guaranteed their place in the side and that you have to make the most of your chances.

“With injuries and players to come back, it is a chance for everyone,” said Ryan. “Paraic said at the start of the year ‘get your chance, go as hard as you can and try and get a jersey for yourself and hold onto it for as long as you can’. Everyone is in the same boat. We’re all working really hard to try and get a jersey.”
