Ryan withdraws from Deíse race

Cork's Pat Ryan

Former Cork selector Pat Ryan will NOT be the new Waterford senior hurling manager.

Last week, Ryan was hotly tipped to take over the position vacated by Derek McGrath following Waterford's elimination from the championship.

However, it has been confirmed that the former Sarsfields hurler has withdrawn from the race to succeed McGrath and now the Waterford selection committee must pursue a different avenue.

It seems that Ryan has had a change of heart as it was initially reported that he was very keen on the position.

Meanwhile, Waterford are also still seeking a senior football manager in the wake of Tom McGlinchey's decision to step down.
