Killian Butler scores London's goal against Galway

Check out our first football team of the week from the 2019 championship season…

1. Ruairi Lavelle (Galway)

Lavelle and his Galway team-mates didn’t have it all their own way against London in Ruislip.

2. Philip Butler (London)

Along with his brother Killian, Butler was one of 13-London born players that togged out yesterday.

3. Brendan Harrison (Mayo)

Harrison and his defensive colleagues restricted New York to just four points in Gaelic Park.

4. Matt Moynihan (London)

The Exiles’ full-back made life difficult for Galway’s much-vaunted forward unit.

5. Paddy Durcan (Mayo)

Deputised as captain in Diarmuid O’Connor’s absence and was his usual reliable self in the Mayo half-back line.

6. Gary O’Donnell (Galway)

The Tribesmen’s captain roamed forward to land a crucial point in their early second-half scoring burst.

7. James McCormack (Mayo)

Marked his senior championship debut with an early point against the Exiles.

8. Tom Flynn (Galway)

The visitors came out on top in the kick-out statistics thanks largely to Flynn’s efforts.

9. Aidan O’Shea (Mayo)

Along with his Breaffy clubmate Matthew Ruane, O’Shea bossed the midfield exchanges in the Bronx.

10. Luke Kelly (New York)

The former Offaly panellist raised two white flags against James Horan’s side.

11. Liam Gavaghan (London)

The captain led by example for the Ciaran Deely managed side which now switches its focus to the qualifiers.

12. Evan Regan (Mayo)

Regan took the scoring honours for the visitors with a return of 1-5 (1-1 from play).

13. Conor Doran (London)

The lively corner-forward pick-pocketed Galway to the tune of six points.

14. Shane Walsh (Galway)

The decision to deploy Walsh further out the field in the second-half reaped rich dividends for the Connacht holders.

15. Killian Butler (London)

Butler netted the game’s only goal in McGovern Park and also chipped in with a point for good measure.
