Limerick continue to set the pace in Division Four thanks to a dramatic defeat of Carlow at Dr Cullen Park.

Billy Lee’s men looked dead and buried as they trailed by three going into injury time but wing back Bob Childs palmed the ball to the net in the 72nd minute before Iain Corbett sent a 74th-minute penalty over the bar to give the visitors an unlikely 1-7 to 0-9 victory – their third on the bounce.

Playing into the breeze, Carlow landed the first four scores through Paul Broderick frees. Cillian Fahy opened Limerick’s account in the 29th minute and they were level by the break through Adrian Enright (2) and Childs.

The Barrowsiders had Sean Murphy dismissed in injury time at the end of the first half and fell behind for the first time when Jamie Lee pointed in the 40th minute.

The pendulum swung Carlow’s way after Tommy Griffin was also dismissed for a second yellow-card offence. Despite the Treaty hitting the next score via Danny Neville, the hosts landed five unanswered points to lead at the end of normal time, 0-9 to 0-6. Then came the very late drama…

In rain-lashed, windy Ruislip, Antrim refused to let either London or Storm Ciara derail their promotion bid as they defeated the Exiles by 0-14 to 0-10, Paddy Cunningham (4), Paddy McBride (3) and Dermot McAleese (3) the scorers in chief.

The meeting of Wicklow and Sligo fell foul of the inclement weather as a pitch inspection early this morning deemed Aughrim unplayable.
