Thomas McCurtains club notes

September 02, 2019

Last weekend our Footballers had a great win in the Championship against Tir Chonaill Gaels to put themselves in the driving seat for a Semi Final place. TCG started the better of the teams leading by four points to two after 15 minutes, but the Macs soon found their stride to close the deficit and lead by one at the break, 0-07 to 0-06. The defining period of the game came directly after half time with McCurtains scoring 1-01 in the first five minutes to open up a commanding lead. For the goal Brian Hourihane done well to collect a TCG kickout and worked it into the parallelogram before squaring it to Conor Murphy who gave the keeper no chance as he blasted it to the back of the net. From then on McCurtains controlled the game well and closed it out to record a six point win.

Next weekend the Club will be in action in three Championship games. First up on Saturday a crucial Intermediate Football Championship match against St Brendans. A win will see the lads qualify for the Semi Finals. Then on Sunday the Hurlers are up against Sean Traceys in the Senior Championship and the Reserve Footballers are in action in the Semi Final against North London Shamrocks in Greenford.

History & Centenary

In preparation for our upcoming centenary in 2020 the club has formed a History and Centenary Sub Committee. The aim of this committee is to investigate the long and illustrious history of Thomas McCurtains GAA Club, document it and form a comprehensive collection of documents detailing the Club’s history.  If anyone would like to join the committee please contact Richard Ellis on 07803 519 394

We are reaching out to past members. We would love to hear your memories and any interesting stories you have.
