Galway native Shane Kelly has taken over the reins of London’s senior hurlers for 2019.

Kelly succeeds Meath man Fergus McMahon in the role after being officially ratified last night in the English capital.

McMahon stood down last month after four seasons in charge with the Exiles, having led them to their first Christy Ring Cup final appearance in six years back in June when losing out to Kildare at Croke Park after beating the Lilywhites to retain their Allianz League Division 2A status.

An adopted Brother Pearses clubman, Kelly is an ex-Galway minor and played in goal during the young Tribesmen’s All-Ireland MHC semi-final defeat to Kilkenny in 2010.

Last night’s ratification saw Henry Vaughan (Kilburn Gaels), Eoin Kelly (St Gabriel’s) and Stephen Frawley all confirmed in Kelly’s backroom team for the upcoming season.
