Thomas McCurtains GAA Club Notes

July 30, 2018

There was only one game for McCurtains last weekend as the Hurlers took on Fulham Irish in the League. Knowing a win would almost guarantee a spot in the Final, they did just that with a fantastic second half performance against the wind.

Next week the Footballers play their opening Championship game against Neasden Gaels in Ruislip on Tuesday while on Thursday our Reserve Footballers host Round Towers in their refixed game in Goodmayes. A win will see them qualify for the Leagu Semi Final next weekend.

Congratulations yet again to Catherine Barrett, Claire O'Sullivan, Avril Kilkelly, Bríd Murphy, Shona Roche & Kathryn Canavan as the London Ladies beat Antrim to make sure they qualified for the All Ireland Semi Finals.

Mens Hurling:

A great win over Fulham Irish for the Hurlers in a windy Scrubs on Saturday afternoon saw them all but qualify for the League Final with one outstanding game to be played between Kilburn Gaels and St Gabriels. McCurtains played with the wind in the first half and opened up an impressive 1-08 to no score lead by half time thanks to points from Niall Coffey, Dean Corrigan (2) Mark Russell (3) and 1-02 from Eoghan Caldwell.

Macs started the second half brightly and got the first score of the second half thanks to Coffey while some great defensive work by Kieran Dowling and Joe Maguire kept Fulham Irish to 2 points in the first 15 minutes. Fulham struggled to find their range with the swirling wind and managed a further 3 points in the game before Caldwell bagged his second to stop any chance of a Fulham Irish comeback.
