Thomas McCurtains GAA Club Notes

June 11, 2018

Last week our Hurlers had a great win over Granuaile on Wednesday evening to qualify for the final of the Ronan Cup. At the weekend it was championship action for our ladies teams. The Footballers put up a big score against Fr Murphys on Saturday morning while the Camogs came out on the wrong side of the score line against John Mitchells in Goodmayes on Sunday.

It's all on the road for our teams next week. On Tuesday the Mens Footballers start their league campaign with a trip to Peckham to take on Dulwich Harps while the Ladies take on Round Towers in their last Championship game in Scrubs.

Friday sees the first final of the year for the club. The Footballers will play St Brendan's in the Murphy Cup in Ruislip at 7.15pm.

Saturday sees our Camogs make the long trip up to Birmingham where they play Fullen Gaels in the Championship and our U15 footballers play St Clarets in the League. On Sunday the U13 footballers will host a league blitz after last weekends blitz was relocated and our reserve footballers play Dulwich in the first round of the league.

Mens Hurling:

The Hurlers had a hard fought win over Granuaile on Wednesday evening to qualify for the final of the Ronan Cup. A great start to the match by the Macs saw an early 3 point lead wiped out by a fortunate goal for Granuaile. Macs reasserted their dominance with Mark Russell leading the scoring to lead 0-10 to 1-03 at half time. Granuaile had the better of the early exchanges in the second half. They reduced the gap to 2 points after 15 mins but a strong finish saw McCurtains over the line by five (0-18 to 1-10) in the end.

Camogie:

The Camogs were unfortunate to lose to a good John Mitchells side on a sunny Sunday morning in Goodmayes. They went into the break a point down but battled hard to build a two point lead midway through the second half before Mitchells scored the crucial goal and Macs just couldn't pull it back.
