Gaels relishing Kanturk test

Disappointment for Kilburn Gaels' Brian Regan and Keith Killilea after the 2015 All Ireland Club IHC final at Croke Park

London senior champions Kilburn Gaels are looking forward to their All-Ireland club IHC quarterfinal against Cork outfit Kanturk.

That is according to their manager Tom Bergin who believes that his side will not be overawed by the occasion or facing a team that includes Cork goalkeeper Anthony Nash and former dual star Aidan Walsh.

The Gaels have home advantage as the game takes place at McGovern Park on Saturday afternoon and Bergin admitted to the Irish Post that his charges will have to be at their best to pass this test.

"There won't be an intimidation factor," stated Bergin. "Our lads are looking forward to pitting their wits against some of the best hurlers in Ireland. This is why we worked so hard to win back the county championship.

"Any team that comes out of Cork with an intermediate title is going to be a serious outfit. Kanturk are a big, physical side with a lot of dual players in their panel so it's going to be a tough battle but we'll give it absolutely everything we have.

"The team has done very well to reach this stage and fortunately we have a full selection to pick from. I've been doing this job a long time and the team has reached this stage twice before so it's nothing new to me.

"The pitch will be in fantastic condition so the home advantage won't be too much of a factor apart from the support we'll hope for on the day."
