Tyrone defender Ronan McNamee has stated that their performance against Down in the Ulster SFC final won't be good enough to win an All-Ireland quarterfinal.

Despite cruising to a 15th Ulster title, McNamee feels that there are certain areas that the Red Hand County must improve on if they are to go further than last year.

Last year, Tyrone came on done at the hands of Mayo in the quarterfinal and McNamee insisted that they were determined to go further this year.

"We're going into the quarterfinal as champions, but the performance produced against Down won't do us then. The training will be bumped up again by a few notches and the challenge of whoever we meet will have to dealt with," McNamee told the Ulster Herald.

"Our campaign this year so far has been satisfying. The Donegal game was a high point because maybe nobody gave us much of a chance because we were written off before that.

"Things can turn very quickly, but we've produced those three good displays. Few would have believed it if someone had said at the start of the year that Tyrone and Down would be in an Ulster final."
