Drumbo Greyhound Stadium, Lisburn will be the novel setting for the big night on Friday 11th February 2011.  It is an event not to be missed as, for the first time ever in the club's history, we will be celebrating our season just ended by going to the dogs!
Tickets, priced £35 each, are now on sale and must be ordered before this weekend.  The price of the ticket includes free transport, entry to Drumbo Greyhound Stadium and a 3-course meal at the on-course Grandstand Restaurant.  Bookings can be made en bloc as the seating arrangements will be in tables of 4, 6 and 8.

A guest speaker will also be in attendance while another intriguing aspect of this venture will be the feature race of the night, the Human 100 metre Sprint.  Six of the Moy's finest 'greyhounds' will go head-to-head in a unique event that might never be witnessed again by this generation of club members.

Youth Team Affairs
A meeting was held in St John's Parochial Hall on Monday 17th January to appoint coaches and team mentors for all our youth teams and to plan ahead for the upcoming underage season.  New Youth Officer Gerry Fearon reports:
"There was a large attendance at the meeting and lots of interest shown.  We have some new personnel who are eager to help out and the signs are very encouraging for the season ahead.
"One of the first matters to arise was the setting up of our under 6 age group.  This will be spearheaded by one of the 'auld' hands, Martin Magee, with the help of a willing group of parents.  Karol McQuade will also oversee activities at this age level with more details to follow.  The under 8s will have the dynamic duo of Paddy McGeary and Damian McAlary in charge, and they will be ably assisted by Ronan Conroy.  If Ronan is anything like his brother Martin, this team will go places!
"The rest of the boys teams all have coaches in place.  We have a few new recruits, among them Shane McKeown who will be learning the ropes with the under 10 team under the guidance of Adrian Jordan.  Cyril O Hagan is joining the panel of under 12 team mentors and should fit in well with the current coaches.  The older boys teams are also well staffed and, with the likes of Tommy "Scobie" McNicholl now getting involved, we can look forward with confidence to the coming season.
"I would like to thank the parents of our under 6 players for the support they have shown in getting the fun start activities underway.  This is a good sign of things to come.  I would also like to thank all the current coaches for offering their services this year, and to the new coaches who have volunteered to help out with our underage teams.
"Our girls teams also have some very able and capable coaches, but we still need more help.  One or two coaches have stepped down and, while there are some new faces, I would appeal for more assistance from parents of the girls, former players and current members to become involved with the girls teams.  Anyone interested in helping out should get in touch with any current coach or contact myself on 077 96648578."
Underage Training
Under 18 girls training will get underway with an indoor session in St John's Parochial Hall, Moy this Wednesday (26th January) at 6.15pm.  Any girls who are interested in playing minor football this year are asked to attend.  For more information, please contact team mentors Paddy McKeown, Tommy Conlon or Sinéad McNicholl.
Under 14 boys training commenced last week and will be held on the side pitch at Páirc Thír na nÓg each Thursday evening.  All players to be at the pitch for 6.45pm.  For more information, please contact team mentors Paul Kelly, Aidan Coleman or Gerry Fearon.
Under 8 indoor training in St John's Parochial Hall, Moy takes place every Monday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.  For more information, please contact team mentors Paddy McGeary, Damian McAlary or Ronan Conroy.
Under 6 Fun Start activities will be resuming soon.  Watch this space for further details.
Referee Nominations
Any of our club members who are interested in becoming a referee or referee assessor is asked to contact An Rúnaí Mary Daly before Friday 28 January.  Without our referees and officials, who do an excellent job all year round, our games could not take place.
We also take this opportunity to thank our sole referee Simon Brady for continuing to carry out this very important role for the Association.  Simon has been making huge strides since becoming our club referee and has officiated at some very big games in recent times.
First Aid Course
An Mhaigh G.A.C. will host a basic First Aid course in the upstairs room of St John's Parochial Hall, Moy on Wednesday 9th February at 7.00pm.  A number of people have already signed up for this course, which will last approximately two hours.  For further information, please contact An Rúnaí Mary Daly.

GAA for ALL is an important part of the Ulster Council GAA's coach and volunteer development programme . This interactive workshop is aimed at club coaches and parents who have an interest in delivering adapted Gaelic games and activities to children and young adults with disabilities and special needs. In most GAA clubs there will be families who have children with a special need or disability and would love to avail of the opportunity to include their children in Gaelic games activities. There is absolutely no reason why our training sessions, winter programmes, summer camps and games cannot be totally inclusive regardless of ability. To try and address this Ulster GAA has planned a number of workshops for coaches and parents in each county over the next few months. The workshop involves a short theory session where the audience are asked to consider how we can introduce Gaelic games into our clubs and the various barriers that may have to be overcome. This is then followed by the main part of the workshop where the audience take part in various practical games and activities using a wide range of specially adapted equipment. In this practical part of the course the participants are challenged to adapt various games to include people with various learning difficulties and disabilities (wheelchair users, visually impaired etc...).The Tyrone workshop is in Eglish on Wednesday 2nd Feb. starting at 7.30pm
