Coalisland opened their O'Neill Cup defence with a 1-14 to 0-12 victory over Ardboe in Edendork last night.

With Kyle Coney and Shay McGuigan in fine scoring form, Ardboe led by 0-4 to 0-1 at the end of the first quarter, but the champions battled back to within a point, 0-6 to 0-7, at half-time and went on to win by five thanks to points from Cathaoir Quinn, Tiarnan Quinn and Brian Toner, and a late goal from Cathaoir Quinn.

The Na Fianna will meet Killyclogher in the quarter-final, which is a repeat of last year's county final, after a last-minute Nathan Donnelly goal handed Killyclogher a 2-13 to 1-13 victory at Carrickmore. Simon O'Neill netted for St Mary's in the 22nd minute, but second half majors from Shea Hamill and Donnelly got last year's runners-up over the line.

Clonoe cruised to a 1-17 to 0-9 victory over Moy, who were without Colm Cavanagh, with Ryan McCabe scoring the game's only goal three minutes before half-time. The win came at a cost, however, for Clonoe who lost county star Connor McAliskey to injury and is rated doubtful for their quarter-final with Trillick.

The other quarter-final pairings are Carrickmore v Edendork and Omagh St Enda's v Errigal Ciaran.
