Safety still the aim, says Donnelly

Tyrone's Richard Donnelly

Tyrone forward Richie Donnelly says survival remains top priority for the Red Hands as they head into their last two league meetings against Dublin and Galway.

Mickey Harte’s men took a huge stride towards safety with victory over Cavan in Omagh last weekend but Donnelly says there’s still more to do, starting with a visit to Croke Park next Saturday night week where they’ll take on the mighty Dubs.

“They’re the leaders of the pack and we’re probably a bit behind where we’d like to be at this time of year, but we’ll give it a rattle and see how it goes. We’ll just work about staying safe,” he told The Irish News.

“We’d a slow start to the league but we knew the importance of the Monaghan game and the game against Cavan.

“Safety is still the aim and it’s not even secured yet so we’re hoping we continue improving to ensure we can stay in the division.”
