Tyrone’s Declan McClure believes there are many positives for the Red Hands to take from their Dr McKenna Cup campaign.

Mickey Harte’s charges are seeking yet another early season title as they prepare to take on Armagh in the final at the Athletic Grounds on Saturday night.

With many of the Tyrone players having been on a team holiday in Thailand, newcomers have been handed the opportunity to impress during the last few weeks.

And McClure told the Ulster Herald that the players that have come in are making the most of their opportunities at the moment.

“It’s brilliant to see,” said McClure. “There are players that should be in this squad and now they’re getting their opportunity. They’re getting their chance to play and they’re showing that they’re worthy to be here.

“Brian (Kennedy) has shown that he really has the ability. You’re always pleased to see that. It’s very competitive right there, a lot of young players are in there and going very well.

“Talented lads, seeing that coming through always allows everything to move forward. That can only strengthen the panel and it’s looking good at the minute.”
