Urney St. Columba's - Club Notes

Minor Meeting: 
 
The minors held a meeting on Monday night to discuss plans for the year ahead. If anyone is interested in playing Minor football this year please contact the Facebook page for more information. 
 
Youth:  
 
One major position has yet to be filled in this year's committee. We are currently in need of a Youth Officer. If anyone is interested in the position or needs any more information on the role please contact club secretary Veronica McMenamin or message the Facebook page. 
 
Skills Coaching Workshops: 
 
Please see details below of upcoming coaching workshops which are open to all Clubs free of charge. These workshops will benefit all coaches but in particular those who are skilled to worked with the U6, U8 and U10 age groups. To book onto the workshops please register on the following site:

Tuesday 15th January 2019 (7.00pm - 9.00pm) Workshop 2 (Tackling and Evasion) - This is an interactive indoor workshop (Hall/Gym) where coaches will be taken through the coaching points of various tackling/evasion skills. At the end of this session the coaches will know the coaching points of various tackling and evasion skills and be able to coach these through drills/games using a number of progressions. 
 
Workshop 3 (coaching the coaches) - Tuesday 29th January 
 
Only Coaches that attend Workshops 1 & 2 can attend Workshop 3 
 
Optional Workshop 3(Coaching the Coaches) – This is an interactive indoor workshop(Hall/Gym) where coaches who feel that they want to acquire the skills to pass on their knowledge to fellow coaches will be taken through tutoring skills(theory) and get the opportunity to practise these skills with the rest of the group. 
 
Time: 7 - 9pm 
Venue: Omagh CBS Sports Hall (To access Omagh CBS Sports Hall please park in the Foundry Lane Car Park off Kelvin Avenue)

Club registrar Cathal McGowan has organised the first registration night for Friday 1st Feb. Keep an eye on Facebook for more details. 
 
National GAA tickets: 
 
National GAA draw tickets now available. All proceeds will go towards the club and there are some fantastic prizes available. Tickets will be distributed shortly and more info can be got from any committee member. 
 
McKenna Cup: 
 
Congratulations to Tyrone on reaching yet another final of the McKenna cup after defeating Derry at the weekend. Tyrone now face Armagh in the final this Saturday night throw in 7.30. After the toss of a coin The Athletic Grounds in Armagh was selected as the venue for the final. 
 
Chosen by you participant: 
 
Spread the word! Urney St. Columba's has been selected to be one of Asda's Chosen By You participants!  
 
I'm sure you seen this sort of thing before, anyone shopping at Asda gets given tokens (please ask for some if they're not handed over, feel free to ask for lots!) and one of the clear boxes you can put your tokens in is for Urney. At the end of the competition whichever of the three causes has the most tokens get a cheque for £500. The two runners up get £200.

Thanks to all who promote, sell and organise our lotto. Special thanks to Pat Holland, Trent Langan, Patsy Logue and Veronica McMenamin, our Lotto counters for January. This is a major source of income and it is hoped over the next few weeks that it will also be available online. Keep an eye on club Facebook and Twitter pages for more info.
