Niall Sludden slams in Tyrone's first-half goal against Roscommon

Niall Sludden says Tyrone's character has stood to them throughout this summer's deep run in the All-Ireland football championship.

The Red Hands find themselves just 70 minutes away from their county's first All-Ireland SFC final appearance in an even decade as they gear up to face Monaghan at Croke Park and centre-forward Sludden knows they'll face another tall order against their neighbours tomorrow afternoon (throw-in 3.30pm).

"This is the 2018 group of Tyrone players and you saw against Donegal the character we have," the Dromore clubman is quoted saying by the Irish Daily Mirror.

"We know we can deal with anything but we know we are going to face a tough test against Monaghan. It is our character which has stood to us.

"When you go back to that game against Meath, people might have read too much into that but the same thing happened with Mayo against Derry last year when they had to go to extra time as well.

"There are times when you are just going to scrape through games but the important thing is that you get there. And if you win games like that it really serves you well in the latter stages of the championship."
