Killeeshil club notes

April 10, 2018

Alphalot results for Monday 9th April were CJLTY Seller Prize went to Kevin Scullion while Lucky Dip Winners were Sheila Rafferty and Dee Tierney.   Jackpot for next Monday stands at £7150 so it's important to get your entry in before 9pm Monday 16th.

Senior and Reserve men had their first home League game of the season when they faced Castlederg on Sunday. The Reserve men got of to a very slow start and Castlederg seemed to be in complete charge of the game but they buckled down just before half time and hung on tight in the second half to run out 1:12 to 0:12 winners.

The Seniors knew they were going to have to be up for the battle in their game and while leading 0:07 to 0:05 at the break, faced a very different Castlederg team in the second half, but credit to the team, each time Castlederg pegged them back, they never panicked and continued to make the correct decisions and get the vital scores at the vital times and ran out worthy winners on a score line of 0:16 to 2:06. Another great result for both teams and next up for the Men is an away fixture to Brackaville on Sunday 15th with Reserves at 2:15 and Seniors 3:45.

The U21 Lads played their Grade 2 League Final on Thursday night past against Moy in Eglish and all seemed to be going their way until a crazy last 10 minutes when Moy fought back from 7 points down to take the game by 3 points. Final score Killeeshil 1:17 Moy 4:11. That ends the U21 season so well done team and management for your hard work and commitment.
Minor Lads still haven't kicked a ball in anger yet but are planned to be playing Ardboe away this Friday evening at 7pm.
U14 Lads played Edendork in an entertaining and high scoring game on Saturday in Killeeshil and ran out 7:09 to 4:11 winners. Next up for the team is a trip to Derrylaughan this Tuesday 10th with throw in at 6:45then the team go into Féile mode on Saturday where Galbally is the venue with a 10:30 start.
Our Senior Ladies begins their League campaign this Sunday 15th away to Errigal Ciaran at 6:30.

Minor Girls have a trip to Trillick on Thursday evening for their next League game with throw in planned for 6:45.
U14 Girls faced a very strong Aodh Ruadh team on Monday 9th in Killeeshil and after a titanic battle from the start to the finish came out on the better side of a 4:08 to 2:12 scoreline. Great result team. Next up for the girls is Féile, this Saturday afternoon. Venues and times to be confirmed yet so pencil in Saturday as your Féile Day when both the boys and girls are in action and give them your full support.

This is a venture which is hoped will encourage girls between the ages of 8-12 and who haven't yet dipped their toe into the highly entertaining and sociable sport of Ladies Gaelic Football to get involved. Congratulations to two of Killeeshil GFC's stalwarts, Anthony McGonnell and Milo Skeffington who received their Credo Awards at an awards ceremony in  Garvaghey on  Friday night past. The Credo Awards recognises Club volunteers who have given a lifetime service to their Clubs, and Anthony and Milo join last years recipients Peter John Rafferty and Charlie Duggan in receiving their Gold Pins. Well done men.

Could we please again urge and beg our team managers to compose a match report for their games so we can keep all our members and supporters up to speed. Reports don't have to be that detailed or polished, but every wee link to the Club and how our teams are performing is appreciated by players, parents and supporters both at home and overseas and gives everyone a sense of being part of Killeeshil GFC. We want to hear no matter what the result.

Killeeshil GFC sends its condolences to the Lagan Family, Greenlough, on the death of Joe, Mary Queen of the Gael, Pray for him.

Please keep up to date with all Club activities on Facebook at Killeeshil GFC.
