Five off in stormy Ulster minor league encounter

April 09, 2018

Monaghan and Tyrone met in the Ulster minor (U17) football league semi-final in Inniskeen where five red cards were shown.

Five red cards were handed out during an ill-tempered Ulster minor (U17) football league semi-final between Monaghan and Tyrone in Inniskeen on Saturday.

Tyrone, who won the inaugural All-Ireland U17 championship last year, finished with just 12 players after Cormac Quinn, substitute Stephen Grogan and Daniel Fullerton were given their marching orders by Down referee Darren O'Hare, while Monaghan had their goalkeeper Ryan Farrelly and corner back Ronan Grimes sent off.

The Farney County won by 3-11 to 1-9 to qualify for a final meeting with Donegal next weekend.
