McCaffrey and Kelly back in Dubs' set-up

December 13, 2017

Left, Johnny McCaffrey and right, Peter Kelly both in action for Dublin.

New Dublin hurling manager Pat Gilroy has received an early boost in his tenure with the news that former captain Johnny McCaffrey and All-Star Peter Kelly will be available to him next season.

Ex-boss Ger Cunningham dropped both players from his squad this time last year, along with a number of other high-profile players.

Dubs selector and former Galway manager Anthony Cunningham confirmed that the pair will be available for 2018 and also told The Evening Herald that the new management had hoped to welcome the Schutte brothers (Mark and Paul) into the squad after the conclusion of Cuala's All-Ireland club SHC campaign.

"You would hope to have Mark Schutte back," he said. "Paul, you know, they're still….nobody is going to touch the work that they're doing. They'll be left on their own (with Cuala)."
