Cruciate injury rules Mullen out for rest of season

Kilkenny's Adrian Mullen

Kilkenny will be without Adrian Mullen for the rest of the season after the Young Hurler of the Year suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in yesterday’s draw with Clare.

The Ballyhale Shamrocks ace was stretched off during the first-half against the Banner men at Nowlan Park and the results of an MRI scan earlier today confirmed that he will be sidelined for the next nine months or so.

Having enjoyed a superb first season with the Cats in 2019, the 20-year-old helped Ballyhale to back-to-back All-Ireland club SHC titles last month and was expected to be a major part of Brian Cody's plans once again this year.
