Wicklow and Bray Emmets hurler John Henderson admits that it was an honour to be represented on the Champion 15 Team of the Year.

Henderson was presented with his award at the All-Stars ceremony last Friday night, but he had little time to celebrate as we was back on the field a few hours later helping his club defeat Dublin’s Scoil Ui Chonaill in the Leinster club IHC quarterfinal.

It has been a decent year for the experienced defender who helped his county to a league title before winning a county medal with his club.

“Absolutely delighted to get it,” Henderson told the Wicklow People. “Obviously it’s nice recognition, just to be there, rubbing shoulders with some great names. It’s a great night in general.

“Obviously I had to come home a little bit earlier than last year, but I still had a good night and it’s nice to get it.

“It hasn’t been a bad year I suppose. With the county we were delighted to win the league. We were disappointed that we missed out narrowly to qualify for the semi-finals of the Christy Ring, beaten on score difference.”
