The death of a Tipperary hurling supporter in a road accident cast a cloud over the All-Ireland celebrations in Templemore.

Mary O'Donnell, who was in her sixties and was well-known in local GAA circles, was the driver of a car that was involved in a collision with a truck in Kilkilahara in the early hours of Saturday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck was uninjured.

Local County Councillor and former Fine Gael TD Noel Coonan said: "We were all excited here preparing for the All-Ireland final, but news of Mary's tragic passing has upset us all."
