Conor Cooney’s ankle injury is not as serious as first thought and the Galway ace will be available for the Leinster SHC.

Cooney sustained the injury in action for St Thomas’ against Liam Mellows on April 7th and it was feared that the lethal full foward was going to be joining Joe Cooney and Fintan Burke as long-term absentees.

However, coinciding with news that Joseph Cooney and Johnny Glynn are returning to Ireland for the championship, it has emerged that Conor Cooney will also be available for the May 12th championship opener against Carlow:

“Thankfully it is not a serious injury, which is good news. We’d expect Conor to be back playing very soon, possibly even as early as this weekend with his club,” Galway hurling chairman Michael Larkin told The Irish Sun.
