Lally glad of break

St Thomas’ manager Kevin Lally believes that the five-week break between the All-Ireland club SHC semi-final and final will stand to them.

While most clubs would prefer to have less time between the two games, Lally was of a different opinion when speaking to the Connacht Tribune.

The Galway champions take on Ballyhale Shamrocks in the club final at Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day.

Lally revealed that they have needed the break to work on their performance, which he felt wasn’t good enough in the semi-final win over Cushendall.

“What we found was that we needed every day of the five weeks, because, let’s be straight about it, we wouldn’t have been happy with our semi-final performance, particularly our second half performance,” said Lally.

“The way we approached it is needed every training session, every challenge to get ourselves right for the challenge we’re going to face on St Patrick’s Day.”
