Colm Galvin says Clare were determined to be the “hardest-working team” against Kilkenny.

The Banner County battled to a brilliant national hurling league Division 1A victory over Brian Cody’s men at Ennis on Sunday, bouncing back in style from their first-round defeat to Tipperary.

“It was very important because we are trying to set a standard here in our home ground that we want to win every day we go out in front of our own fans,” inspirational midfielder Galvin told The Irish Mirror.

“It was just great to get a win off the back of last week because we felt we didn't do ourselves justice. We weren’t at the races compared to Tipperary - they were a lot hungrier than we were.

“We tried to make sure that whatever happened [against Kilkenny], we were going to be the hardest-working team.”
