Dublin's Gary Maguire and Shane Durkin.

Gary Maguire and Shane Durkin have followed fellow Dublin hurlers John McCaffrey and Ryan O'Dwyer into inter-county retirement.

New Dublin manager Mattie Kenny confirmed after yesterday's Walsh Cup win over Laois, which secured a semi-final spot against Galway, that the Ballyboden St Enda's pair have called it a day.

An All Star goalkeeper in 2011, Maguire was was one of the longest-serving inter-county hurlers, having made his championship debut back in 2004. He was Dublin's number one when they won historic Allianz League and Leinster SHC titles under Anthony Daly in 2011 and '13 respectively.

Half back / midfielder Durkin also featured prominently under Daly, but had limited game-time under Pat Gilroy last year.
