Pearse Stadium won't host any concerts this year

Galway GAA has all but ruled out the possibility of Pearse Stadium holding a major concert in 2019 after receiving just €76,000 for hosting two sellout Ed Sheeran gigs last summer.

County board treasurer Michael Burke told the Connacht Tribune that there will be no concert at the Salthill venue “unless there is a good payday for the GAA”.

A new CCTV system worth over €40,000 was installed at Pearse Stadium at no cost to Galway GAA, but the profit from the two shows was hugely disappointing when compared to the reported €1 million Cork GAA earned from hosting three Ed Sheeran concerts as part of his Irish tour last May.
