Kehoe Cup round-up: Westmeath and Meath prevail

There were wins for Westmeath and Meath in today’s Kehoe Cup first round fixtures.

Joe Quaid’s Westmeath troops secured an impressive 18 point victory over Wicklow at Cusack Park.

Goals from Robbie Greville and Aaron Kennedy sent the hosts on the road to a 2-22 to 1-7 success.

Meanwhile, Meath edged out Quaid’s former Kildare charges in a penalty shoot-out.

Normal time finished with the sides deadlocked on 1-15 apiece and the Royal County won a penalty shoot-out by 2-0 thanks to successful efforts by Shane Quigley and Damien Healy.

Brian Byrne and Paul Divilly missed their attempts for David Herity’s side.

Steffan Kelly (Meath) and Caolan Smyth traded goals in the opening half of normal time.
