Redmonds to carry on

Cork club Redmonds are set to carry on after an executive committee was formed at an EGM.

The plight of the club has been well documented as one of the oldest clubs in the country were on the brink of going out of existence.

However, an EGM held on Wednesday night proved a massive success after they had failed to field a team earlier in the year.

Over 50 people attended the meeting with Cork County Board Development Officer Pat Horgan chairing the meeting and he told the Evening Echo that the EGM had been a huge success.

“It was very important that a club with such a rich heritage has been saved. I was impressed with the enthusiasm and attitude displayed at the EGM,” said Horgan.

“These small units of the association are its lifeblood and we all know the great history of Redmonds. I am looking forward to seeing their colours back on the playing fields of the city division in 2019.”

Redmonds will ply their trade in the Junior C championship next year.
