One of Cork’s most decorated clubs will continue on in 2019 after having a full complement of officers elected at an Emergency General Meeting last night.

It had been reported last month that Redmonds GAA were closing the doors of its club premises after having struggled to field players, with just one team competing at junior level in the last five years.

However, last night saw the southside club hold an EGM in one last attempt of revival and, all in all, 10 officers were elected along with six committee members after the rallying call had been sent out.

Speaking to the Evening Echo, newly elected chairman Mick O’Shea explained that the club’s seniors will be fielding in the Junior C Championship next season and hope to build from there.  

 “We got a good response last night and I am delighted that the club has been saved,” the club stalwart stated.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm shown at the meeting and the main thing for us now is that Redmonds will be on the field in 2019.

“We will play Junior C championship and will hope to graduate from there.’’
