Luke Loughlin has been hailed for the bravery he showed in lining out for Clonkill in last night's Leinster club SHC quarter-final against Ballyboden St Enda's, just hours after the funeral of his cousin, three-year-old Annabel, had taken place.
The Westmeath footballer scored 1-2 as the grief-stricken Lake County champions went down fighting after extra-time. His team-mate and long-serving county star Eoiny Price tweeted this morning: "To see the pride this young man brought to so many people after such a hard week for his family is beyond belief. I've never been so proud to say I'm from Clonkill."
