Camross manager Danny Owens has stressed that the bond the side has, sets them apart from their rivals.

Crowned Laois senior hurling champions for an unequalled 26th time, Camross cemented their place as the standard bearers in the county.

In his first year with the club, Owens became the first outside manager to guide them to a county title, while he added the Division One league title to that this year also.

Speaking to the Leinster Express following the county final win over Rathdowney-Errill last weekend, Owens pointed to the closeness of the squad as one of the main reasons for their success.

“They are unique, in the sense of that fierce club closeness, it’s a very tight community, and they bring it all together on days like this. It’s very hard to get on top of them, to get past them and the final was no exception,” said Owens.

“Everything you hear about them, in terms of their closeness, they are the epitome of a real club, a close-knit club.”
