Offaly SHC final: Coolderry claim 31st county title

October 07, 2018

Coolderry captain Kevin Connolly lifts the Sean Robbins Cup (Offaly SHC).

Coolderry were crowned Offaly senior hurling champions for the 31st time in O’Connor Park today.

The Joachim Kelly coached side lowered the colours of reigning champions Kilcormac-Killoughey by 2-17 to 0-17 in the Faithful County showpiece.

A late scoring burst that yielded 1-2 broke the holders’ brave resistance.

Captain Kevin Connolly found the back of the Kilcormac-Killoughey net in the first-half and the eventual winners led by 1-9 to 0-8 at the halfway stage.

The game was very much in the balance entering the closing stages but Eoghan Parlon bagged a second goal to apply the gloss to Coolderry’s first county triumph since 2015.
